ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Jennylynd James is a Renaissance woman – an artist, writer, and soprano with a long work history as a food scientist. She worked in the food industry for over 25 years in Florida, California, Ireland, the Caribbean, and  Canada. In Ireland, Jennylynd discovered a hidden talent for art, and through private instructors was introduced to oil painting, portraiture and sketching. She uses the vivid colours of her heritage and global travel to influence her work.

NEW ARTWORK

All the originals below are available. Send me a message if you want one. We ship to the US, Canada, and Mexico.

What happens when an artist sits in front of the canvas?
Sometimes there’s a direction and a plan. Other times, I paint what the spirt moves me to do.
My new abstract paintings are loosely based on Mayan headdresses and culture.

The monastery and colonial buildings in the town are all painted a yellow that reflects the dazzling sun, which is fitting as the Mayans considered this site to be the home of Kinichkakmo, a manifestation of the sun god.
